Today, we will explore a fundamental theme for our spiritual journey: How do the life and teachings of Jesus Christ impact my understanding of God and the purpose of my life?
To grasp this, let's delve into the Word of God, the Holy Bible, where we find precious guidance for our spiritual life.
In John 14:6, Jesus declares: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." This powerful statement reveals to us that Jesus not only points us the way to God, but He Himself is that way. He is the manifestation of God among us, revealing to us His love, His grace, and His truth.
When we look at the life of Jesus, we see a perfect model of love, compassion, and service to others. He healed the sick, welcomed sinners, forgave offenders, and taught about God's unconditional love. In Matthew 20:28, He Himself says: "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
These teachings and examples of Jesus show us the character of God and the purpose of our life: to love God above all and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). He calls us to live in communion with Him and in service to others, reflecting His love and His light in this world.
As we look to Jesus, we understand that the purpose of our life is to follow in His footsteps, to grow in intimacy with God, and to spread His love and His truth wherever we are. He empowers us through His Holy Spirit to live a transformed life, full of meaning and purpose.
Therefore, may we be inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ to know God more deeply and to live out the sublime purpose He has for each of us. Read the Bible, listen to God's word through sermons and praises, seek the presence of the Lord through prayer.
Shall we pray?
Beloved Lord, we thank you for revealing Your love and Your purpose to us through Jesus Christ. Help us to follow His footsteps and to live in accordance with Your will. May our lives be a reflection of Your love and Your grace for the glory of Your name. In Jesus' name, amen.
